Worship Services
Sunday Morning Worship Service at St. John’s is at 10.30 am. This is a service of Holy Communion using the Book of Alternative Services and the hymns are accompanied with organ music and the choir. Once a month on the third Sunday we celebrate the traditional Morning Prayer utilizing the Book of Common Prayer.
At all services of Communion, we offer Holy Eucharist to all baptized Christians.
At each service a Pew Bulletin is provided to assist parishioners as we proceed with the service. The hymns and Bible readings are indicated with page numbers in sequence of the order of service. We encourage everyone to take home their bulletins so that they may later re-read the lessons of the day and review the announcements section and mark upcoming events on their calendar.
Open Door Wednesday’s from 10am to 1pm is an opportunity throughout the summer months for prayer and quiet reflection.
Other Services:
In addition to regular weekly services, we also observe major Holy Days. During the year, we offer opportunities for commitment and renewal:
The Rite of Confirmation, is conducted by the Bishop during his annual visit. Is an opportunity for young and older adults to affirm their Baptismal vows for themselves and becoming adults in Faith.
Inquiries concerning special services are encouraged well in advance. Some education and preparation of the individuals is necessary before these rites, as each of them is a significant transition and not to be entered into lightly.
We also provide Services of Holy Matrimony and Christian Burial.
Those wishing to be married need to plan months in advance of the desired date, to allow for pre-marriage counseling and to ensure the availability of the church.
Funerals obviously cannot be scheduled; the Rector is available on short notice as needed. However, it is critical for the family to discuss details prior to making other arrangements as there are guidelines to be followed in all Anglican churches. We are available to help you at such difficult times.
